The MPO to LC fiber patch panel,also known as the MPO-LC patch box or module box,is a core connection and management component in high-density fiber cabling systems. Its main function is to act as a "translator" and "control center" between the main trunk MPO optical cable and the terminal LC patch cords,enabling the conversion from multi-core parallel connection (MPO) to dual-core/single-core duplex connection (LC).
In modern data centers,high-performance computing,and cloud infrastructure,in order to save space and improve efficiency,MPO pre-terminated optical cables (typically 12-core,24-core or more) are commonly used as the backbone. However,the ports of most network devices (such as switches,servers,routers) are still standard LC or duplex LC interfaces. The MPO-LC patch panel is precisely designed to address this interface mismatch issue.
